Spotlight on PWR Photography

We are excited to introduce our new photographic partner, PWR Photography! If you are looking for a FANTASTIC photographer for your DESTINATION WEDDING look no further. The works of Phillip at PWR will deliver exactly what you need to capture your special day!

We had the pleasure of asking Phillip some questions so you can get to know him better. Check out his interview!

Tell us about how you begun your photography career, what lead you to shoot weddings and how long you have been in business.

I first got my love of photography after my mom bought me an M&M film camera when I was ten years old. I've been shooting for about 20 years and naturally fell into the category of artistic photographer.  Eventually my wife and I, decided to start PWR PHOTOGRAPHY.  Weddings weren't my thing at first, but then I was presented with a great opportunity that I just couldn't turn down. PWR PHOTOGRAPHY was officially started in 2008 in Memphis, Tennessee and recently relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. We specialize in portraits, family photo shoots, pets, babies, engagement sessions, senior pictures, corporate photos, and weddings.

What is your wedding photography style? What are your strong points regarding your style?

My style isn't really traditional.  When I got married, I didn't want the traditional poses that you see everyone have. I wanted something different, so that's what I started doing and people loved it. The brides and grooms were so happy with the photos and that is what makes me happy. I love to capture moments when people aren't looking and get great candid artistic shots.  I really enjoy seeing people happy.

What's in your bag?

In my camera bag is a Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 24-135mm f/3.5-5.6, and 50mm f/1.8 lenses, Canon 580ex II, Yongnuo speed light YN560, a few wireless flash triggers, 3 tripods, polarizing filters, and some batteries.

What is your favorite thing about shooting a destination wedding?

I had a destination wedding myself, so I understand how exciting they are for the bride and groom. The beaches are amazing, people are getting away from their everyday lives to go do something so happy...GET MARRIED. I love that I get to be a part of that and capture those wonderful moments for them.

What advice can you give to the bride and groom to ensure a successful day while photographing their wedding?

Be yourself and act like I'm not there.  You enjoy your day and I'll make sure you remember it!

What makes your business YOUnique?

I love what I do. This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.  When I'm shooting someone's wedding or any other type of shoot...we become friends instantly.  It's just a connection you get with your clients...It's really cool.

What other services to you offer/provide?

We shoot everything from portraits to pets, engagement photos, senior pics, modeling photos, family photos, babies, holiday cards, and more.

Do you prefer a shot list or like the freedom of shooting what you desire?

I can do both. If they have a list of certain shots they want I can make sure those happen.  If not, it's totally ok.

Black & White or Color?

Both

How many weddings have you shot?

An exact number? No idea...lots..and lots...

Shoes? Flip Flops? or Bare Feet?

Flip flops and bare feet when on the sand!

In your own words, please tell us what the bride and groom can expect if they hire you for their wedding day?

Hopefully the bride and groom aren't thinking of me on their wedding day. It's their special day and i want them to take it all in and enjoy it to the fullest and leave the photos to me...I'll get everything they could ever want...and maybe a bit more :)
